Jackie received her MFA in Creative Writing from The New School and her BS in English Education from New York University. Aside from writing for young adults, she is also actively involved in theatre, and has acted and directed across the tri-state area. As a playwright, she has had work produced in both NYC and NJ. By day, she teaches high school English. Jackie lives in NJ with her husband, two children, and (very handsome) golden retriever, Gatsby.
Whether writing for adults or young adults, Jackie’s fiction and plays are largely character-driven and contemporary, with a literary bent. She’s very interested in writing about mental health, trauma, and recovery, and her protagonists often struggle with aligning their interior and exterior worlds. Her writing tends toward the dark and raw, and she adheres to the notion that fiction is actually a deep, and rich form of truth-telling. Jackie’s fiction is represented by Sera Rivers at Martin Literary Management.
